Mark McVicar brings more than two decades of experience to Tsar & Tsai. While specializing in intellectual property law, his broad experience also extends to areas that include corporate, employment, securities and insurance law.

Mark’s extensive experience in intellectual property law includes advising some of the world's most prestigious brand owners on the protection and enforcement of trademark and other intellectual property rights in Taiwan. For ten years, he worked as a regional trademark coordinator for one of the world’s most well-known brands, helping manage clearance, prosecution, dispute, and enforcement matters. The role, a combination of in-house and out-of-house functions, required coordinating an in-firm team, working closely with the client's internal team of portfolio managers, as well as numerous instructing firms in the US and Europe, coordinating work in 26 countries across the Asia-Pacific. Mark has consistently been recognized by his clients for excellence in service, not only leveraging broad trademark expertise, but also bringing the critical communication, linguistic, and cultural understanding that are required to help brand owners navigate the complex legal and practical landscapes in the region.

Mark is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and worked as a translator earlier in his career, having translated works on topics ranging from constitutional reform and Taiwanese history to legal translation of laws and regulations for numerous governmental agencies, including the Securities and Futures Commission, the Taiwan Insurance Institute, the Ministry of Education, and the Fair Trade Commission.

Mark is a long-time member of the International Trademark Association and European Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan.
