T&T advised project companies of Hai Long Offshore Wind Project (1,022 MW) and its sponsors, Northland Power Inc. and Mitsui & Co., Ltd., as Sponsors’ Taiwan Legal Counsel in reaching financial close for their NT$ 117 billion project finance on September 28, 2023. The project received support from over 15 international and local banks and multiple Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) (including Export Development Canada (EDC), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), UK Export Finance (UKEF), Export Finance Australia (EFA), Export Finance Norway (Eksfin) and Credendo – Export Credit Agency of Belgium). This financing is the largest non-recourse offshore wind financing to date in Asia and also the first offshore wind project finance in Taiwan to be backed with Corporate Power Purchase Agreements.
